Kids, Adults & Seniors Enjoy Charming Stage Performance and Unique Railroad Displays Tickets Still Available for the Four Remaining Shows This Weekend The Great American Railroad Show premiered in San Luis Obispo this past weekend to enthusiastic crowds and will continue with four final performances on March 25, 26 & 27. This unique, railroad themed live stage and musical show is being staged at the Unity Theatre in both evening and matinee performances. Some of the Central Coast's most notable and entertaining actors and singers thrilled audiences in the first weekend as did the interesting display of railroad artifacts, artwork and running models in the Pre Show area. Advance tickets are still available for all remaining performances through the show's website, in person, and by mail. The Great American Railroad Show performances include singing, nostalgia, spoof radio commercials, historical 3D photos, famous railroad film clips and an old fashioned, dastardly melodrama. The show's railroad songs include favorites from stage, screen and folklore. The Great American Railroad Show includes a special Pre Show Railroad Environment which will feature sophisticated running model layouts from the San Luis Obispo Model Railroad Association. Unique artifacts from the Oceano Depot and the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum will also be on display. The cast features professional character actor Phil Jones, the compelling songstress, actor and piano gal Laurelle Barnett, Broadway Musicals veteran Leona Evans and folk musician, showman and film maker Dave Baumgarten. Jeff Lee serves as the Conductor and Master of Ceremonies for the show. Regional theatre favorites Jill Garcia, Judy Dezso, Rick Ridge, Peggy Sharpe, Matthew Evans and Sharon Mesker will also add their talents onstage. The show was crafted by Writer/Creator Joe Burns and is being co-produced by Curtis Reinhardt, Director of the Central Coast Railroad Festival. Theatre professionals Jake McGuire directs the show and Mary Moyers-Lee is the musical direction. The Great American Railroad Show is being produced and presented by the Central Coast Railroad Festival. The Major Show Sponsors are the Hind Foundation, the International Fellowship of Rotarian Musicians and the International Fellowship of Railroading Rotarians. Major media sponsors are KCOY12 and FOX11 television stations. The four remaining shows will run March 25, 26 & 27th. (Friday & Saturday at 7:00pm, Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm). The Railroad Pre Show Environment opens one hour prior to curtain. General Seating tickets are now on sale through the show's website and in person at Boo Boo Records. Tickets are $19 for adults and $14 for youth under 19. Boo Boo Records, located in downtown SLO at 978 Monterey St., is open 7 days a week. There are no service fees added to any purchases. Unity Theatre offers an intimate performance space and tickets are expected to sell out in advance for most shows. The Unity Church Theatre is located at 1490 Southwood Dr. (at Johnson Ave.) in southern San Luis Obispo.
